The Sports Friendly Campus Awards were presented to their owners at a ceremony held at Recep Tayyip University. At the ceremony where the universities that received the title of ‘Sports Friendly Campus’ were announced, our University also received the title of ‘Sports Friendly Campus’.

The ceremony was attended by Minister of Youth and Sports Osman Aşkın Bak, as well as the President of the Council of Higher Education Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar, President of the Board of Trustees of the İlim Yayma Foundation Bilal Erdoğan, Governor of Rize İhsan Selim Baydaş, Members of the Higher Education Executive Board Prof. Dr. Naci Gündoğan and Prof. Dr. Arif Bilgin, our Rector Prof. Dr. Uğur Ünal and the rectors of the universities that received the title of Sports Friendly Campus.

Speaking at the ceremony, Minister of Youth and Sports Osman Aşkın Bak stated that Turkey has hosted and will host major sports organizations in many areas and that they want young people, managers and administrators at universities to be involved in sports.

President of the Council of Higher Education Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar also stated that they have given Sports Friendly Campus awards for the first time this year within the scope of the Sports Friendly Campus Project. Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar, He said that they aimed to achieve goals such as helping young people gain healthy living habits, strengthening their mental and physical health, combining sports with individual development, discipline and self-confidence, and transforming universities into healthy living spaces with the Sports Friendly Campus Project.

Bilal Erdoğan, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the İlim Yayma Foundation, expressed his wish that all university campuses in Turkey become sports friendly campuses.

The award ceremony was held after the speeches. The awards were presented to the universities that won the Sports Friendly Campus title by the President of the Higher Education Council Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar, Minister of Youth and Sports Osman Aşkın Bak and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the İlim Yayma Foundation Bilal Erdoğan.

Our Rector Prof. Dr. Uğur Ünal received the Sports Friendly Campus Award on behalf of our university.

The Sports Friendly Campus Award given by the YÖK is a 45-item multi-item program under the titles of Strategy and Management, Infrastructure and Facilities, Events and Participation, Cooperation with Stakeholders, Student and Community Participation, Health and Support Services, Cultural and Traditional Events, and Health and Safety. are given according to multi-dimensional evaluation criteria.

In addition, according to the statement made by the Council of Higher Education, the names of the universities that have earned the title of ‘Sports Friendly Campus’ will be specifically stated in the 2025 ÖSYM preference guide. In this way, candidate students will be able to pay attention to the sports infrastructure and sports-encouraging approaches of the universities while making their choices.
